Colnago C60 Super Record

This is the third Colnago C60 we’ve built recently, and so far is our favourite. Personally I’m not always a fan of black on black, but in this case it works really well and is an elegant execution for black on black bikes. If this isn’t your style maybe the White on Black Colnago Italian C60 will work for you.

The C60 is the only Colnago still made in Italy so working with an Italian Campagnolo Super Record group seemed very fitting and aesthetically it is a nice match. The performance of the Super Record group is as expected, which is to say it’s the best Campagnolo group we’ve ridden to date. The C60 draws on Colnago’s long history and still uses lugged construction, albeit an updated shape and design. We also appreciate the Breezer inspired dropouts.

One aspect of the C60 that stands out is the swappable routing system for either mechanical or electronic groups.  However in this case we did find that the shifter cable stops on the down tube were not a perfect match for the mid sized Campagnolo shifter housing.  It seems the frame was designed more with Shimano’s 4mm housing in mind rather than Campagnolo’s 4.5mm  Our solution involved a pair of stepped Ashima ferrules which took care of the .5mm diameter difference nicely.

One stand out change for the C60 and Colnago in general is the new Threadfit 82.5 bottom bracket standard. The standard shows some potential and is clearly a unique take on modern oversized bottom brackets and spindles. For a side note on the build, after the bike has been through final fitting we’ll be refinishing the stem to remove the white logo so that it matches the rest of the bike.
